The six annual Meditation for Musicians Retreat retreat will be led by Madeline Bruser, pianist, teacher, and author of the highly acclaimed book The Art of Practicing: A Guide to Making Music from the Heart. The program will include meditation workshops and music workshops using meditative listening, sensory awareness, and relaxation techniques to help you release physical and mental tension and transcend your current level of performance. Musicians performing in the workshops will also receive instruction in easeful posture and movement.
This program can help you:
* Improve focus and increase enjoyment in practice and performance
* Achieve more emotional intensity with less physical tension
* Cultivate fluidity and rhythmic vitality
* Discover greater authenticity and conviction as a musician
* Perform with more confidence, warmth, and freedom
Professional and amateur musicians of all instruments may apply to perform in the music workshops. Musicians who do not perform in the workshops may observe them and give feedback to performers, as well as take part in the rest of the program.
Those interested in this section of the program must apply for acceptance as a performer directly with Ms. Bruser. These participants should register for the "Performing Participants" section of the program.
Musicians applying as non-performing participants should email Ms. Bruser to notify her of their instrument.
Program fee (includes meals but does not include accommodations):

Program start time is 7:30 on July 25 (join us for dinner at 6:30) and end with lunch on August 1.
Tuition: $595.00
Program fees include 3 meals per day served by the Karmê Chöling kitchen.
About Madeline Bruser
Pianist Madeline Bruser has performed as soloist with the San Francisco and Denver Symphony Orchestras. She has conducted seminars and workshops at the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, the University of Southern California, the Music Academy of the West, the MedArt World Congress on Arts and Medicine, and college music departments and music teachers' organizations in the United States and Canada. She also appeared on National Public Radio's "Performance Today" in an interview and piano lesson broadcast in 200 cities.
Ms. Bruser is the author of the highly acclaimed book, "The Art of Practicing: A Guide to Making Music from the Heart", which combines musical, meditative, and physiological principles. Ms. Bruser teaches piano privately in New York City, where she is on the Adjunct Piano Faculty at Teachers College, Columbia University.
